The National Sports Authority secures modern pitch covers to safeguard national stadia

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced the arrival of newly procured pitch covers designed to protect and maintain the quality of pitches at national stadia during non-football and multi-purpose events.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 11, 2025, the Authority noted that the initiative stems from its ongoing mandate to preserve world-class sporting facilities across the country.

Earlier this year, the NSA’s Marketing wing launched a partnership engagement targeting private institutions, corporate organizations, and investors to support the acquisition of modern pitch protection systems.

These covers are expected to safeguard stadium turf, reduce deterioration, and keep facilities in optimal condition for sporting and non-sporting activities.

The pitch covers, which have now arrived in the country, will soon be deployed across designated national stadia.

Their installation is expected to boost facility protection, lower maintenance costs, and enhance readiness for major events and competitions.

Commenting on the development, the Director General of the NSA, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, highlighted the importance of the intervention, stating that the pitch covers come at a crucial time in the NSA’s facility management efforts.

He explained that the new systems represent a significant step toward protecting stadium surfaces and ensuring that venues remain in excellent shape for both athletes and event organizers.

He also expressed gratitude to partners for supporting the Authority’s long-term vision of sustaining Ghana’s sports infrastructure.

The NSA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that promote sports excellence, advance facility modernization, and improve the overall sporting experience for Ghanaians.
