The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to hold its Annual Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Stadium, as part of efforts to reorganize the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The Conference seeks to prompt an internal assessment of the party’s performance in the recently concluded 2024 elections, while also laying the groundwork for a strategic comeback to reclaim power.

The well-attended launch event brought together senior party officials, members of the Organizing and Media Committees for the Conference, and representatives of the media.

This year’s Conference is themed “Rebuilding Together With Our Values”, signaling a renewed commitment to the core principles that have guided the NPP throughout Ghana’s democratic journey.

Speaking at the press launch, the NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, emphasized that the party’s rebuilding efforts are rooted in unity, discipline, and fidelity to the values that have long defined the NPP.

“The party is taking steps to rebuild our base and structures by staying true to our principles and values, which have been our firm foundation in our country’s democracy,” he stated.

He described the NPP as a party with deep historical roots and a legacy of fighting for democratic governance in Ghana.

“Our forebears are remembered for standing up against military regimes and contributing significantly to democratic rule in Ghana. This upcoming Conference offers an opportunity to take stock of our performance in the 2024 elections and reorganize ourselves at every level to effectively challenge the NDC in 2028.”

Mr. Ahiagbah called on all party members and supporters to rally behind the reorganization effort.

“It is a collective battle. We urge every member to give their best to support this exercise. July 19 is a critical step toward realizing that shared vision.”

He further reiterated the party’s ideological position, highlighting the NPP’s belief in private enterprise, individual freedoms, and a democratic framework as essential to Ghana’s development.

“The NPP is a strong political tradition rooted in pro-business ideals and private sector-led development. This stands in contrast to the socialist-leaning ideology of our main opponents, the NDC.”

Citing the “One District, One Factory” initiative as an example, Mr. Ahiagbah noted that policies implemented under the previous Akufo-Addo administration created over 160,000 jobs and significantly contributed to economic transformation.

“Our record in government shows a consistent commitment to empowering the private sector as the engine of growth. That has always been—and remains—the NPP’s development model.”

The NPP has called on its members, sympathizers, and stakeholders to actively participate in the Conference and contribute to the party’s renewed push toward victory in the next electoral cycle.
