NPP opens nominations for presidential primary today

The New Patriotic Party has opened nominations for the upcoming presidential primary of the party ahead of the 2024 elections.

The process starts from today, May 26,2023 as the party releases its electoral calendar in anticipation of its congress later this year.

The nomination period is open up to a month and will come to an end officially on June 24, 2023.

The calendar of the party runs as follows;

  • Friday, May 26, 2023 – Opening of Nominations
  • Saturday, June 24, 2023 – Closing of Nominations
  • Saturday, August 26, 2023 – Special Electoral College Elections (if any)
  • Saturday, November 4, 2023 – National Congress

The fees for picking the forms for the contest is pegged at Gh50,000 and is a one time non refundable payment.

Applicants have been informed to pick up the forms between the hours of 10am – 5pm throughout the weekdays till the end of the period.

“The Party is determined to hold a free, fair, transparent and a peaceful presidential primary election, and urges all stakeholders to help make this a reality,” part of the statement read.

There has been considerable interest in who leads the governing party into the 2024 Elections after the tenure of H.E Nana Akuffo Addo expires on January 6,2025.

Among the list of contenders are ; Alan Kyeremanten , Dr Afriyie Akoto, Hon. Joe Ghartey, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong , Boakye Agyarko and the Veep, H.E Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
