‎The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Joseph Antwi, has dismissed claims of a food shortage at Nkwanta Senior High School.

‎His comments follow recent appeals from school authorities at Nkwanta Senior High School, Community Senior High Technical School, and Kyabobo Senior High School in the Oti Region for urgent support to feed final-year WASSCE candidates.

‎Speaking on Joy News on Tuesday August 5, 2025 Mr. Antwi clarified that food items were delivered to the school on Saturday through the Free SHS programme.

‎“The unfortunate news is that yesterday evening, I saw reports claiming there’s food insecurity in the school. That is not true. On Saturday, food was brought to the school through the Free SHS programme,” he said.

‎He added that the Municipal Director of Education had contacted the headmaster ahead of the delivery to ensure the store was open for offloading.

‎“He even called the headmaster and asked him to open the store so the driver could offload the food items for the students. So I don’t understand where these allegations are coming from,” he added.

‎Mr. Antwi further explained that only third-year students are currently being housed in the community due to ongoing conflict in the area, reducing food demand.

‎“We are only housing the final-year students. First and second years are not in school. So I don’t understand the claims of a food shortage. As MCE, I always work hard for the welfare of my people, the development of the area, and the well-being of the students,” he said.
