The Ghana Police Service has apprehended nine individuals for making false allegations regarding the disappearance of their genitals.

Reports surfaced on March 24, 2024, indicating that some individuals in Kasoa had experienced similar incidents, mirroring similar occurrences in Ashaiman and Nkwakwa, located in the Greater Accra and Eastern regions respectively.

These reports incited fear and panic among the public, leading to attacks on the accused individuals who were subsequently turned over to the police.

A statement released by the GPS on April 7 has revealed that investigations, including medical examinations, have revealed the claims to be unsubstantiated.

According to the statement, six out of the nine offenders were apprehended in Kasoa, while two were captured in Ashaiman and one in Nkawkaw. Among these, five have been brought before the court, with three remanded in police custody and two granted bail. The remaining two are presently under investigation and are expected to appear in court soon.

Here is the statement from the Police Service.

The Police Service additionally cautioned the public against falsely accusing individuals of such crimes, as it may endanger innocent lives and disrupt public tranquility.
