Nigerian Veteran Actor, Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, has passed on after battling an illness.
The ‘Candle Light’ actor, who was 57 at the time of his death was reported to have died on the 7th of May, 2023.
Reports state that he died in the home of one of his siblings due to an undisclosed disease he had been battling for several months.
It was also revealed that his death announcement was delayed due to some disagreement among his siblings.
His body has currently been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) morgue. Funeral announcements are yet to be communicated by the family.
Who was Saint Obi?
Born in Port Harcourt on November 16th, 1965, Obinna Nwafor, also known as Saint Obi and ‘Mr. Quality’, was a Nigerian actor, film producer and director.
After studying Theatre Arts at the University of Jos, Saint Obi went on to make his acting debut in 1996 in a Peugeot commercial for Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
He had an acting credit of over hundred movies and films to his name at the time of his death.
He was mostly known for his movies from the 1990s and the early 2000s such as ‘Candle Light’, ‘Take me to Maama’ and ‘State of Emergency’, where he played as an agent who must stop terrorists from causing chaos in the country.
He died at the age of 57, on the 7th of May, 2023.
He was survived by his three children, and his estranged wife, with whom he had been engaged in a bitter divorce case late last year.
