The Board Chairman of the National Theatre, Nana Fredua Agyeman Ofori-Atta, has called on the Ghanaian government to enact legislation to safeguard the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park from encroachment and neglect.

Speaking at the launch of this year’s Ghana Theatre Festival, held at the National Theatre in Accra on Tuesday, September 24, he stressed the park’s significance as a cultural and recreational space for children.

Named after the renowned Ghanaian playwright and cultural advocate, Efua Sutherland, the park has also served as a venue for artistic performances over the years.

This appeal comes in response to growing concerns about the park’s deteriorating state and the urgent need to preserve it for future generations.

Advocates for the park are rallying support to ensure it remains a vibrant and safe space where children can explore, learn, and play.
