Gushegu Member of Parliament (MP), Alhassan Tampuli Sulemana has criticized the governing party’s 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, labeling it uninspiring and lacking in substance.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV, the opposition MP stated that the atmosphere in Parliament during the budget presentation was a premonition of its hollowness.
“The public gallery was almost empty. The lobby lacked the usual energy. I had a premonition that something was amiss,” he said
He added that aside from a few typical initiatives, the budget contained nothing revolutionary.
“You cannot construct roads and pat yourself on the back. Every government has done that since Nkrumah’s time,” he stated.
Hon. Tampuli concluded his critique by claiming that the only significant or “transformational” plan outlined in the entire document was the proposed purchase of a new presidential jet.
“The only transformational thing this government is going to do in this budget is the purchase of the presidential jet,” he added.
