Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil was at the heart of an inspiring team display by his club, Los Angeles Galaxy, as they beat Colorado Rapids 3-2 in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Paintsil was involved in all of Galaxy’s three goals, setting up one, playing a crucial role in another, before finding the net himself.

The Ghanaian’s man-of-the match display saw him walk away with a goal and assist, ending his three game dry spell without finding the back of the net.

The 26-year-old was left out of the Black Stars squad for June’s 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Mali and the Central African Republic due to injury, but has since gone on to regain full fitness.

The win moves LA Galaxy to the summit of the Western Conference League table in the Major League Soccer (MLS), albeit playing two more games than second placed Los Angeles Fc.

Paintsil, who has now recorded seven goals and seven assists after 21 games, will aspire to finish the season strongly with La Galaxy as they prepare to square off against Portland Timbers on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
