The winner of the Miss Asafotu 2024 pageant, Mavis Kabukie has expressed frustration over what she describes as a faulty car presented to her as part of her prize package, a vehicle she was told was brand new.
Speaking on the Campus Exclusive show on Radio Univers earlier today, Mavis also questioned how a car that was meant to be new could develop gearbox problems after just one day of use.She suspects the vehicle may not have been brand new at all.
“So, a car that has not been used, how come it has a gearbox issue? Because one day of driving cannot make the gearbox break just like that. I want the documents of this car, and then they should come for the car from my house and give me the brand new car as promised,” she added.
In another surprising twist, Mavis revealed that she had to purchase her own crown and sash,contrary to what one would expect in a national pageant of this scale.
“No, the crown I bought with my money. I bought the crown and sent it to the organizers. I said, ‘Auntie, please, I was able to do a different sash and also got a new crown.’ She said, ‘Alright, I’ll get them to pay for it,’ but they paid nothing,” she said.
The beauty queen is now demanding full documentation for the car, and insists that she will be given a truly brand new vehicle as was promised in her winner’s contract.
“My demands are: I want the documents of this car. Then, if they give me the documents, they should come for the car from my house and give me the brand new car as promised, as well as the other things in the contract.” she concluded
