The Ministry of Youth and Sports led by deputy minister of Youth and Sports Evans Opoku Bobbie paid a visit to the ailing former coach of the black satellites coach Sellas Tetteh at his residence in Accra.
The veteran coach is reported to be sick and seeking for financial assistance.
Some institutions have supported him and the Sports Ministry yesterday donated an amount of fifty thousand Ghana Cedis to support his medical bills.
Deputy Sports Minister Evans Bobbie spoke to the family during their visit to Sellas Tettteh.
“Greetings from Honourable Mustapha Yussif who has sent us here to see how you are faring.
we have an information that you are not feeling well so as a ministry in charge of sports and the role he also play in development of the game in this country we are glad that we have seen you
We are so happy as we can see that you are very strong physically and spiritually again his excellency the president of the republic want to support you in the area of hospital bills with fifty thousand Ghana Cedis” He said
According to reports that emerged recently, Sellas Tetteh had been ill for a while and needs funds to settle his hospital bills hence support from institutions and corporate bodies has come to his aid to alleviate the plight the former black satellites gaffer finds himself in.
Few days ago, Black stars captain Andre Ayew’s representatives including his mother and other relatives donated an amount of money to the veteran coach to aid him take care of himself.
Sellas Tetteh was the head coach of the 2009 black satellites team that chalked an unprecendented success by being the first African country to win the under-20 world cup after defeating Brazil on penalties in a crunch encounter.
Apart from that feat, he has also coached a couple of teams and has performed well and went ahead to win the CAF coach of the year award and also bagged Sports Writers Association of Ghana coach of the year accolade. Tetteh appears to be one of the most distinguished coaches Ghana has churned out.
