The Ministry of Roads and Highways has officially announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls across the country.
This decision aims to generate revenue for critical road maintenance and infrastructure development.
According to the press release, the Ministry is working on implementing a modern, technology-driven toll collection system. To ensure transparency, the Ministry has pledged to use an open, competitive, and cost-effective procurement process for the new tolling system.
Head of the Public Relations Unit, Nasir Ahmad Yartey has emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing road maintenance challenges through a modernized tolling system. Further details on the rollout and specific locations of the tolls are expected in the coming weeks.
