The 18th Biennial Connexional Delegates’ Conference 2023, organised by the Methodist Connexional Youth Fellowship, recently concluded its four-day event at the E-learning Centre Auditorium of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
This gathering brought together dedicated delegates representing various levels, from dioceses to circuits and branches, under the theme “Discipleship: Living the Transformed Life in Jesus Christ.”
During the conference’s opening ceremony, Chairman of the Connexional Methodist Youth Fellowship, Bro. Dr. Benedict Mbeah-Baiden disclosed the building of a two-unit classroom at Wa.
“The fellowship is building a two-unit classroom block with offices, for the Rev. Paul Adu Memorial Methodist KG, Wa in the Tamale Diocese, as part of our social witnessing, and in line with the strategic objectives 7 and 8 of the strategic plan of the Methodist Church Ghana,” he proudly announced.
The conference also highlighted the fellowship’s strong commitment to social responsibility. Among their notable contributions, they dedicated GHC 10,000.00 to support the renovation of the Methodist Youth Development Training Centre in Aburi.
A motorbike valued at GHC 6,000.00 was donated to aid youth work in the Tamale Diocese. A compassionate gift of GHC 2,000.00 was also provided to assist a victim of the Bogoso Apiate explosion, showcasing their dedication to humanitarian causes.
Speaking on behalf of the Kumasi Diocesan Bishop, RT. Rev. Stephen Kweku Owusu, RT. Rev. Heyford Aduse-Poku of Kwadaso Circuit emphasized the importance of living a moral and Christ-centered life. He urged the youth to steer clear of moral challenges such as gambling, pornography, occultism, and other vices that often confront young people in today’s society.
In an exciting development, Director of the Methodist Youth Development Ministry, The Very. Rev Eric Gyan shared news about the introduction of the Wesley International Society (WIS).
Acccording to the him, this initiative was designed to cater to the worship needs of young people.
“The liturgy and practices of the model church are tailored to meet the needs of all young people. The recent Expanded GPC at Akyem Oda directed that all Dioceses begin the Wesleyan International Society urgently. I encourage all MYF members to embrace this model church and ensure its successful implementation in our respective Dioceses.”
The 18th Biennial Methodist Youth Connexional Conference bore witness to the active participation of individuals and stakeholders, including Diocesan officers, circuit officers, societal officers, ministers, and resource experts. Their dedication to serving God and their unwavering commitment to enhancing the youth fellowship in Ghana was evident throughout the conference. It served as a resounding testament to their shared vision of empowering youth and collectively building a brighter future for the nation.
