Medeama maintain perfect start as Hearts, Swedru All Blacks shine in GPL Matchday 2

Medeama SC continued their flawless start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Vision FC at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Friday  19th September ,2025.

Defender Kamaradini Mamudu opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Abdul Salam’s deflected effort doubled the lead 13 minutes later.
Vision, chasing their first win of the season, struggled to break down Medeama’s relentless attack and failed to register a single shot on target.

Emmanuel Owusu and substitute Nurudeen Abdulai completed the rout in the closing stages, as Medeama claimed back-to-back wins, clean sheets, and six goals from two matches, remaining top of the table. They now turn attention to Karela United, while Vision host Hohoe United next.

Hohoe United made a memorable debut at the Hohoe Sports Stadium, earning a 1-1 draw against Young Apostles.

Ganiu Abass gave the hosts the lead just three minutes into the second half, only for Clinton Opoku to level for the visitors in the 73rd minute, securing Young Apostles’ first point of the campaign.

Both sides finished evenly matched in possession and shots, leaving Hohoe still searching for a maiden league win as they prepare to face Vision FC, while Young Apostles host Dreams FC.

Eleven Wonders suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 4-1 to Heart of Lions at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. Atta Agyei and Chauncy Freeman’s first-half goals set the tone, before Kofi Asamoah’s strike briefly gave Wonders hope.

Ishmael Addo and Macaulley Kojo Kuma sealed the emphatic win for the Lions, who will now host Bechem United, while Wonders travel to face Hearts of Oak.

FC Samartex 1999 were held to a 1-1 draw by Karela United at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. Zaidan Mohammed put the visitors ahead in the 27th minute, marking Karela’s first-ever goal at the venue. Former Ghana international Samuel Tetteh restored parity in the 77th minute, leaving both sides searching for consistency as they head into matchday three.

Bechem United remain without a win after a goalless draw with Basake Holy Stars at Nana Gyeabour Park. Despite dominating possession and winning more corners, Bechem failed to create meaningful chances, while Basake managed their lone effort on target effectively.

Bechem now have just one point from two matches and travel to face Heart of Lions next, while Basake take a break due to Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup commitments.

Swedru All Blacks celebrated their first Premier League home game in 16 years with a 3-0 triumph over Berekum Chelsea. Zayat Bubakari and Rudolf Mensah struck in the first half, with substitute Hafiz Alhassan sealing the win late. The victory marks an encouraging start for All Blacks, who now visit Aduana Stars, while Chelsea face GoldStars in Bibiani.

Aduana Stars aim to bounce back from their opening-day defeat when they host Nations FC at Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. Both sides will be keen to claim a first win of the season, with the Fire Boys targeting consistency and Nations looking to make it two victories from two games.

Hearts of Oak secured their first win of the campaign, edging Dreams FC 1-0 at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema Newtown. Mohammed Hussein’s 14th-minute strike proved decisive, as Hearts withstood late pressure to claim four points from two matches.
Dreams, meanwhile, remain without a point after back-to-back defeats, suffering their first home loss to Hearts since December 2024.

Asante Kotoko’s clash with Bibiani GoldStars was postponed due to African competition commitments, leaving fans eager for the fixture to be rescheduled.
