Actor and model Mawuli Gavor has opened up about the life-changing moment that pushed him to leave his corporate job at KPMG for a career in the creative arts.
In an interview with Blac Volta shared on X on August 17, 2025, Mawuli revealed that while working his 9-to-5 at KPMG, he often juggled early-morning photoshoots with model agencies to earn extra money. But one particular shoot changed everything.
“I was in a meeting with Martini, and I was really struggling to balance both. I’d tell them I had to be at work by 8 a.m., so they’d schedule shoots for 6 a.m. But the team would show up at 11 a.m. Meanwhile, I had a full-time job waiting for me. They’d put lipstick on me, say ‘smile,’ and then I’d rush to work late, apologising all the time,” he recounted.
Eventually, Mawuli decided to quit modelling to focus on his corporate career. But before he could walk away, Martini made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“They asked how much I was making at KPMG. I wrote it down. They looked at it and said, ‘If that’s the case, we’ll give it to you today.’ And they did. Imagine someone handing you your one-year salary in just one day,” he said.
That single moment became the turning point.
“I just went back to the office, sat at my desk, and typed my resignation letter. It was with profound regret, but honestly, after that, I struggled to ever see myself going back to a regular 9-to-5.”
Today, Mawuli Gavor has carved a successful career as an actor, model, and entrepreneur, but he says it all began with a bold leap of faith sparked by that defining experience.
