The Immediate Past Junior Common Room (JCR) President of Legon Hall, Justice Atta Sarfo, popularly known as ‘Od33fuo,’ has accused Hall Master Dr. Alfred Ato Yankson of threatening to have him arrested after questioning his presence in the hall. This followed a dispute over housing provisions for residents who were denied access to their rooms on May 3, 2024, due to a scheduling oversight.

“On May 3, several residents arrived on campus, unaware of the postponement, only to be denied access to their rooms by the Hall Management. The situation was dire, with students stranded outside without any assistance from the management. In response, I immediately wrote to the Dean’s Office and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (ASA), seeking urgent intervention. However, since the Dean was on leave, I contacted the Pro Vice-Chancellor directly via WhatsApp, explaining the situation. He assured me that he would reach out to the Hall Management to make provisions for the affected students.

I then called Hall Master Dr. Alfred Ato Yankson to inquire about the provisions for these students. Instead of addressing the issue, he questioned why I was on campus and ordered me to pack my belongings and leave the hall that very day, even though the JCR executives had applied for stay-in privileges. He even threatened to have me arrested if I stayed in my room that night. For my safety, I slept in the JCR office that night,” Od33fuo wrote on his page on Google Site.

This arises from the former JCR President’s strong denial of allegations made against him by Senior Hall Tutor Dr. Monica Mensah Dankwah and Hall Master Dr. Alfred Ato Yankson, as stated in his statement dated August 31, 2024.

In a detailed response, Od33fuo rejected claims of soliciting funds improperly, using unauthorized letterhead, and inciting unrest within the hall.

“I have been falsely accused of soliciting funds from individuals, including Hon. Lydia Alhassan and Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, in the name of Legon Hall. Additionally, I am accused of using unauthorized letterhead and leading unauthorized individuals in a sponsorship drive to defraud others. However, it is important to clarify that the individuals involved in the sponsorship effort, Paa Kwasi and Gideon Ofori, were brought on board by Dr. Enoch Sekyi Yeboah in collaboration with the JCR executives. The same Senior Hall Tutor who is now accusing me, granted these two individuals stay in privilege during the 2023-2024 first semester vacation to assist in securing sponsorship for Legon Hall’s 70th anniversary. Therefore, the accusations against me are not only unfounded but also contradictory to the facts.

I have also been accused of using an unknown phone number to disseminate demonstration flyer and petitions aimed at causing unrest in Legon Hall, as well as disregarding my fellow executives and including unauthorized individuals in my administration as the Legon Hall JCR President.,” he noted.

He further asserted that the accusations levelled against him are unfounded and driven by personal vendettas.

These accusations clearly demonstrate that they are baseless and motivated by personal agendas against me.”
