Ghanaian and international hip-hop artist Kwesi Arthur has taken to social media to make serious allegations against his former management, GroundUp Chale, accusing the record label of extortion.

According to the rapper, the label had demanded a fee of $150,000 for him to utilise images of himself, a demand he characterised as unfair and exploitative. Kwesi Arthur further asserted that he had been manipulated and threatened during his tenure with the management and disclosed that he had not earned any revenue from his music, despite attaining success on a global scale.

In his posts, the award-winning artist warned that if anything were to happen to him, his former manager, Glen Boateng, should be held responsible. He also stated that any attempt to take down his newly released album would be the responsibility of his former management.

This controversy follows Kwesi Arthur’s recent decision to pursue an independent career after officially parting ways with GroundUp Chale and releasing a new album outside of the label.
