Kwesi Appiah to earn $50,000 monthly salary as Sudan head coach

Former Black Stars coach , Kwesi Appiah will take home $50,000 as monthly salary as the head coach of Sudan.

The former Ghana coach is set to sign a three-year deal as the head coach of the Sudanese national team.

Appiah is also expected to act as the technical director when the deal is confirmed.

The former Ghana international who is the Chairman of the Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) on Wednesday was granted permission to join the side by the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Despite the permission to sign the deal, Kwesi Appiah will continue to serve as the technical director of Asante Kotoko.

“The life patron of Asante Kotoko, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has blessed our technical director, Kwasi Appiah, to accept the role as Head Coach of Sudan national team,” Asante Kotoko said in a statement.

Mr Appiah will, however, maintain his role as Technical Director of Kotoko.

He will contest in the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council elections next month in this capacity.

“The experienced technical brain, who has managed the Black Stars twice in the period, 2013 to 2014 and 2017 to 2019, is expected to lead the technical direction of Kotoko as we work on restructuring the team.”

This will be the second time James Kwesi Appiah will be working in Sudan. In the past, he was head coach of the Sudanese top-flight club Al Khartoum.

During his tenure with Al Khartoum, he led the team to a fourth-place finish in the league and qualification to the Confederation Cup.

James Kwesi Appiah (born 30 June 1960),also known as Akwasi Appiah, is a Ghanaian football coach and former player who played as a left sided defender for both local giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars.
