Ignatius Osei-Fosu, the assistant coach of Sudan’s national team, has made a confident declaration that he possesses the requisite skills and expertise to lead the Black Stars, Ghana’s senior national football team, as head coach.
He essentially expressed his readiness and ability to take on the top job, showcasing his ambition and belief in his coaching abilities.
“I think tactically I can be able to do the job because what is a tactical approach? I’m a License A coach, and I can do tactical approach,” the former Medeama and Eleven Wonders coach said in an interview with 3 Sports.
“But there are other things to the job that have nothing to do with tactics. Sometimes it has everything to do with your human relationship.” – he added.
Ignatius Osei-Fosu, who has been serving as assistant coach to Kwasi Appiah for Sudan’s national team since September 2023, acknowledged that he still has much to learn from his mentor and current boss, Kwasi Appiah, before he can consider himself ready to take on a more senior role.
“I think I need to learn more from Kwasi Appiah. If he says that, Ignatius, I think you have been with me for one year now. The Black Stars are calling you. I think you are ready to go. Then it’s like a master blessing is servant to go and work.
“But for me to take a sole decision and say that, oh, the Black Stars have come, Ignatius can do the job [, no].”
Sudan secured four crucial points against Ghana’s Black Stars in their qualifying group, holding them to a 0-0 draw in Ghana and then defeating them 2-0 in the return match, ultimately finishing second in Group F and advancing to the tournament.
