Ghana’s head coach of beach soccer team Daniel Kortey Nii Quaye has expressed his delight at the return of beach soccer league after a nine-year break.

The new season will be starting on the 27th of May as announced during the launch of the competition.

The league is intended to help beach soccer teams compete for honors and nurture talents that will represent the nation in various beach soccer competitions across the globe.

Nii Quaye believes the revival of the league will be beneficial to the national team’s development as he looks forward to seeing how it will strengthen their performance.

“That is what I wish it will happen so I am very excited and happy. Looking at last year the tournament we played, we do not have enough players to play because we don’t play any league. We don’t play anything so choosing the player to come we call the players to come from home and go and train to play the match. So I am happy they have launched the league. Now that they are going to play the league we are going to see the good ones, pick them and blend them with the team and play, So am happy.” he said.

During the launch of the league, president of Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku pledged to donate Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis to each of the fourteen clubs to support their finances.

Four regions will be participating in this year’s edition but the GFA boss indicated that he expects the rest of the regions to be part of the competition in subsequent years.

“Even though today we are here talking about clubs from Greater Accra, from Volta from Central and from the Eastern Region. Soon we will have clubs from all the other regions also participating in Beach Soccer. Tentatively our premier league will start on May 27 2023 to help our clubs for a good take off. The Football Association is providing each of the fourteen clubs a support fund of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis to each of the clubs, fifty percent of this money will be paid immediately,” Kurt Okraku revealed during the launch of the Beach Soccer league.

The participating teams are, Loyoca Beach Soccer Club, Nungua Beach Soccer Club, Dansoman Beach Soccer Club, Cheetah Beach Soccer Club, Ocean Stars Tegbi Beach Soccer Club, Kedzi Beach Soccer Club, Senya Sharks Beach Soccer Club, Okere Rangers Beach Soccer Club, and Vodza Beach Soccer Club.  the re-introduction of the league will aid the beach soccer national teams in getting players to represent the country.
