President elect of the National Union of Ghana Students Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel has expressed his gratitude to Ghanaian students for giving him the opportunity to become the 56th President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).
Speaking to UniversNews after his victory against his contenders for the Presidency, Banning B. Clinton, and Sylvester O. Amoako, KOD, as he is popularly called, stated that he was happy to have been elected for the position.
He described the race as exhaustive, but would still go on to credit his victory to Ghanaian students who elected him as President of the union.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank each and every Ghanaian student who supported the key and development course. I’m grateful and I thank you all for this very opportunity. The journey I must say has been a tough journey, an excruciating journey but the collective effort of all Ghanaian students across board we are able to make this thing happen.”
Daniel Kyeremeh subsequently vowed to ensure that the voice of all Ghanaian youth count in matters related to them.
“I always tell Ghanaian students that it has gotten to a time where we need to select a student leader that cares about them, a student leader that loves the union, a student leader that is passion oriented, a student leader that is experience and I am bringing these experiences to them. And moving on, the National Union is going to be continuously made the biggest union and the voice of all youth of the country. “
The National Union of Ghana Students held its 56th Delegate Congress at the University of Cape Coast from Wednesday July 5th to Sunday July 9th 2023. The congress climaxed with an election for a new crop of executives to manage the affairs of the Union.
Three candidates keenly contested the Presidential seat with Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel declared elected with 858 votes out of 1,302 total votes cast. Banning B. Clinton pulled 428 votes while Sylvester O. Amoako gathered 16 votes despite pulling out of the race.
