Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has revealed that the ministry is currently facing financial constraints with regards to completing the various Youth Resource Centres in the county.

Aside from the Koforidua Multi-purpose Centre which was commissioned last year, the nine others left are yet to be fully completed and commissioned.

While some centres are close to completion, work has stalled at other centers.

“I admit we’ve had challenges with regards to payments but because the contractors haven’t handed over the facilities, we can’t use them,” Ussif admitted at a press briefing.

Additionally,he revealed that his outfit has already outlined plans to pay all the debts owed the contractors.

“We’re actively working to pay the monies for the certificates raised so they can return to work, Azumah Nelson, Navrongo, and Nhyinahin.
“I want to assure you that all the contractors will be duly paid and will soon return to work. Work will soon start on Navrongo, Yendi and Accra phase 2.”

The ten multi-purpose Youth Resouce Centres project across all parts of the country, was introduced in 2018 under former Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah.
