Hearts of Oak Board Chairman and Majority Shareholder Togbe Afede XIV has strongly condemned the negative behaviour by some club fans.

At a meeting with stakeholders, Togbe Afede XIV expressed his displeasure with some of the supporters’ conduct.

He claimed Hearts of Oak fans always preach negativity in relation to the club’s affairs which has been unhelpful to the club.

‘The biggest challenge we have had so far is from our own people, which is not fair. Even in the animal kingdom lions come together, they won’t betray one of their own to hyenas. Lions will come together and defend their own against hyenas let alone betray their own. There is always negativity and insults; even the good things that we are doing people will paint a negative picture. Rubbish even the Kpobiman that we are building, which is the envy of many other clubs.”

Togbe Afede XIV further remarked that the negative behaviour by club fans is also turning away potential sponsors.

He claimed that internal negativity among club fans has been a cause in delay in the club’s progressive projects.

“Since we took over, its been difficult for us to raise sponsorship because people think we are always fighting. Those who are against us have succeeded in stiffling our progress. Kpobiman for example, could have started much earlier; a lot of the dreams could have materialised much earlier but from within we are fighting.”

The Board Chairman subsequently appealed to the fans of Hearts of Oak to breed positivity in anticipation of the approaching new season.

The Phobians will open their 2023/24 Betpawa Premier League campaign with an away fixture in Tamale against Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
