Communications Director of Kpando Heart of Lions, Eric Eli Adzie, has voiced strong optimism about the club’s readiness for the upcoming GHALCA Top Four tournament.
Set to be staged at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium from August 20 to 24, 2025, the competition will serve as a crucial warm-up ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.
This year’s edition features four top-tier sides: reigning league champions Bibiani Gold Stars FC, Kpando Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, and Accra Hearts of Oak.
Speaking on Sports Night on Radio Univers, Mr. Adzie noted that the Lions are eager to make a statement against Hearts of Oak, having suffered back-to-back defeats to the Phobians in recent Homowo Cup encounters.
“I think for us as a club, we’ve really prepared fervently for the GHALCA Top Four competition. It serves as pre-season for us and one that we cannot underestimate. The good thing is that we are playing against some of the top boys in Ghana football.
“And for that matter, we must prepare very, very well towards it. Coach Bashir Hayford and the technical team have had the players together for quite a long time now.
“As a club, we cannot underestimate the strength of Hearts of Oak. Last year, in the Homowo Cup, they had a victory over us. This year, they completed the double over us again.
“We are meeting them tomorrow, and we are very much prepared. The players are in good spirits. We have brought in a few additions to our set-up to augment the squad for both the tournament and the Premier League itself,” he said.
