GPL 24/25 MWK 18: Kotoko move to top Spot, Legon Cities edge out of danger; Hearts of Oak stumble

The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League served up an electrifying set of matches, with some teams rising to the occasion and producing outstanding displays, while others defied expectations and fell short of predictions.

Asante Kotoko climbed to the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Karela United at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday. Captain Justice Blay scored the decisive goal from a penalty in the 63rd minute. Meanwhile, FC Samartex 1996 lost ground after a 1-1 draw with Dreams FC, with Alhassan Mankuyali Mohammed and Joseph Esso scoring for their respective teams. Young Apostles secured a 1-0 win over Nsoatreman FC, thanks to Emmanuel Fosu Kyei’s goal. Basake Holy Stars held Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw, while Berekum Chelsea defeated Vision FC 1-0. Bechem United triumphed 2-0 over Nations FC, and Hearts of Lions won 2-1 against Aduana FC. Legon Cities narrowly beat Gold Stars FC 1-0, and Accra Lions edged Medeama 1-0 with a penalty by Lucky Nwafor.
