The Public Relations Officer of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Mr. John Kapi, has revealed that the delay in releasing the 2024 WASSCE results is due to the government’s failure to provide the necessary funds.
This follows an earlier announcement by WAEC, explaining that the results cannot be processed or published without the required financial support.
In a statement, WAEC emphasized that the delay in funding has stalled their operations.
Speaking to Univers News, Mr. John Kapi warned that the funding delay could disrupt the admission processes of universities and colleges, affecting thousands of students awaiting their results.
“It is the government’s duty to release the funds on time so we can process the papers and publish the results. Without this, we are unable to meet our deadlines. WAEC plans its activities around strict timelines to make sure everything runs smoothly. But when funds are delayed, it throws off our schedule. We are currently engaging the Ministry to resolve this issue quickly. As a non-profit organization, WAEC cannot take loans to fund this process”
Nonetheless, WAEC has assured the public that they are working hard to fix the problem. However, they are urging the government to act fast to avoid further delays that could affect students’ academic progress.
