Head Coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Otto Addo, has praised the Ghana Premier League for its progress, stating that it has shown significant improvement since two seasons ago.

The former Black Stars forward was in attendance as Medeama  beat Legon Cities by a lone goal at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in match week two of the Ghana Premier League.

In an interview with the media, Otto Addo expressed his optimism about the league’s growing competitiveness, but emphasized that it needs more time to reach its full potential.

“This is my first season [observing the league closely].At the end of the last season, I watched a little bit of videos; it was okay in general,” he revealed.

“I think it’s picking up, it’s getting more interesting, and we have to see. I think it’s early; it’s now early [to make an assessment].

“Let’s watch the season and see how the players perform. I think the performance, in general, is going up. When I compare it to two years ago, it has improved.”

Otto Addo also announced plans to attend more Ghana Premier League games this season to scout local-based players.

The senior national soccer team has had a disappointing start in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. Ghana was handed a 1-0 defeat to Angola at home before drawing 1-1 with Niger in Berkane.
