The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has donated 10 desktop computers and accessories to the University of Ghana (UG) to enhance inclusive education for students with disabilities through the university’s Assistive Technology Lab.

The brief handover ceremony underscored UG’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind, while also strengthening partnerships with industry to improve the student experience. The donated items included desktop computers, flash drives, and Bluetooth speakers.

Head of Corporate Affairs at Ghana Gas, Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, said the gesture formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy and aligned with Ghana’s Inclusive Education Policy. He noted that, to date, 145 desktop computers have been distributed to inclusive institutions across the country.

Receiving the items on behalf of management, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Felix Ankomah Asante commended Ghana Gas for its continuous support and emphasized the importance of collaborations between academia and industry in advancing inclusive learning environments.

“We want to ensure that our Assistive Technology Lab continues to provide the tools, training, and support that empower our students with disabilities to compete on equal footing with their peers worldwide,” he said.

Registrar of UG, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to creating an academic environment where all students can thrive, regardless of ability or background.

Guests later toured the Assistive Technology Lab, where students and staff showcased the use of assistive devices available to support teaching and learning.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials from Ghana Gas and the University of Ghana, as well as staff and students.
