Ghana set to face Panama, England, and Croatia in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup

Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the official draw held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The Black Stars will face England, Croatia and Panama in what promises to be a highly competitive group.

England enter the competition among the favourites, boasting depth, quality and experience across all departments.

Croatia, meanwhile, present another stern test. The Europeans were finalists in the 2018 World Cup and reached the semifinals in 2022, demonstrating remarkable consistency on the global stage over the past decade.

Panama complete the group, returning for their second World Cup appearance and determined to cause an upset.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first-ever expanded 48-team edition, will kick off on June 11, 2026, with the opening match scheduled for the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

Under the new format, the 12 group winners and runners-up, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will progress to a newly introduced round of 32.

The tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, and will run until July 19, 2026, when the final is staged at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Ghana’s first game will be against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, in Dallas, USA.

For Ghana, the draw sets the stage for a challenging but exciting campaign.

The Black Stars will look to prepare intensively in the coming months as they aim to navigate a group filled with pedigree and ambition.
