Ghana beat C.A.R 5-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers

The Black Stars of Ghana made a powerful statement in Wednesday’s Group I qualifier, thumping the Central African Republic (CAR) 5–0 at Stade d’Honneur de Meknès, Morocco.

With this result, Ghana surge to 22 points, placing them firmly in control of their group and one match away from booking a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when defender Mohammed Salisu nodded home from a precision cross by Mohammed Kudus.

Ghana dominated possession and created several chances, but the scoreline remained 1-0 going into halftime.

Shortly after the restart, Thomas Partey doubled the score with a composed finish following a slick build-up involving Jordan Ayew in the 52nd minute.

The third goal arrived in the 69th minute through Alexander Djiku, again from an Ayew assist, setting the visitors loose.

Jordan Ayew then himself scored in the 71st minute, volleying in a superb cross from Gideon Mensah to make it 4-0.

The Leicester City man now stands as the player with the highest goal contribution in the qualifiers — seven goals and seven assists.

In the 87th minute,Kamaldeen Sulemana added gloss to the victory by finishing off a well-weighted pass from Joseph Paintsil for his first goal in national colours.

Ghana now need just a draw in their final match at home against Comoros on Sunday, 12th October 2025, to clinch their place at the 2026 World Cup.

This emphatic win not only boosts confidence but sends a warning to their rivals: the Black Stars are peaking at the right time.
