The Black Stars of Ghana delivered an outstanding 5-0 victory over Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at a packed Accra Sports Stadium, climbing to the top of Group I with 12 points.

Bournemouth forward, Antoine Semenyo opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, capitalizing on a defensive error.

Ghana maintained their dominance, with Inaki Williams doubling the lead in the 31st minute after connecting with a precise cross from Thomas Partey.

Jordan Ayew added a third goal from the penalty spot in the 35th minute after Semenyo was fouled in the box.

The Black Stars continued their relentless attack in the second half at the Accra Sports Stadium. Mohammed Salisu scored with a powerful header from an Ernest Nuamah corner in the 55th minute, making it 4-0.

Ernest Nuamah then sealed the emphatic win in the 78th minute with a stunning strike assisted by Ayew.

Ghana’s commanding performance came after Madagascar, their next opponent, suffered a 3-0 defeat to Mali earlier.

Otto Addo’s team now prepares for a crucial clash against Madagascar in Morocco on Monday to solidify their position as group leaders.

Having secured the top spot in the group, coach Otto Addo insists that his side must do everything to hold onto it.

“It’s always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there. We will try to do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep the top spot,” the Ghana coach stressed.
