The Black Queens of Ghana celebrated a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Senegal in an international friendly on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Dakar. The narrow win marked a triumphant debut for Swedish coach Kim Lars Björkegren at the helm.

The decisive moment came in the 35th minute when Evelyn Badu expertly headed home Princess Marfo’s precise cross, securing the lone goal of the match.

The Queens dominated the early stages but faced stiff resistance from Senegal’s resilient defense.
However, Marfo’s pinpoint delivery to Badu proved pivotal, shifting the game’s momentum in Ghana’s favour.

The second half saw Ghana reduced to 10 players following Anasthesia Achiaa’s second yellow card. Undeterred, the team displayed remarkable resilience and determination, protecting their slim lead against Senegal’s relentless pressure.

Senegal’s late push for an equaliser was ultimately thwarted, as Ghana held firm to secure a well-deserved win.

This victory marked a significant milestone for the Black Queens, ending their five-game winless streak and earning their first win since defeating Namibia in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers in 2023.

The two teams will meet again on April 8 in their final friendly match of the international window.
