UGSRC General Secretary aspirant, Fosua Amankwa Kese, has officially filed her nomination to contest in the upcoming 68th Student Representative Council elections at the University of Ghana.
She submitted her nomination form at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, just hours before the close of the nomination window. Fosua enters the race with the campaign message: “Service with Humility – Getting Your Info Right and the Right Choices for Your Voices.”
Speaking to Univers News after filing her forms, Fosua outlined the eligibility criteria for the position, as provided by the SRC Electoral Commission. Electoral Commissioner Nana Mensah Bonsu was present to supervise the process and ensure compliance with all regulations.
According to her, each aspirant for the role must secure 150 student endorsements, with fair representation from the university’s three major colleges:
- College of Basic and Applied Sciences
- College of Humanities
- College of Health Sciences
Aspirants are also required to submit endorsements from at least two professors or lecturers affirming their suitability for the position.
Fosua added that transcripts are not submitted manually, as the Electoral Commission accesses candidates’ academic information through student ID numbers provided at the time of nomination.
The close of nominations signals the start of the campaign season, with students preparing to elect new leaders for the 68th SRC administration.
“I believe in service with humility,” Fosua said. “My goal is to ensure accurate information reaches students and that their voices are heard and represented effectively.
The election is expected to be competitive, with multiple aspirants vying for leadership positions that will shape student governance at the university.
