Former Radio Univers Volunteer and visually impaired student Ephraim Ayeh Oracca-Tetteh from the Department of Philosophy and Classics has made history by being named the valedictorian of the College of Humanities, achieving an impressive final grade point average (FGPA) of 4.0.
This remarkable announcement was shared by the College Registrar, Mr. Benedict Ofosu Adjei, during the introduction of the valedictorian at the university’s congregation who acknowledged his success as an undefigable one.
Mr. Benedict Ofosu Adjei announced,
“Our valedictorian for this afternoon congregation ceremony is Mr. Ephraim Aye, Uraka Tete. He’s graduating on top of his cohort with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Classics and with a final grade point average of 4.0; perfect score. When I say he’s graduating on top of his cohort, I really mean on top of not just his cohort, but he has made a great history at the University of Ghana, possibly in all the other universities in Ghana. On the behalf of the Vice Chancellor, per records it’s been ten years and we are yet to have another student with a perfect score like Ephraim.”
Delivering the valedictorian speech during the second session of the Tuesday, February 11, 2025 Congregation, Ephraim inspired his fellow students to reach for greater heights in their academic pursuits, reflecting on his journey as a vision realized; that one day he would shake hands with the Vice Chancellor.
“I vividly remember being informed that I had been given or had been admitted to study Political Science, Philosophy and Classic, and Archaelogy. At the time, I barely understood what any of these subjects entailed. However, we took up the challenge, grew love for these disciplines, and today we celebrate the fruit of our labour. Our resilience has been tested in many ways but the dream for me was to one day shake the hands of the Vice-Chancellor, a dream that is being realised today,” he stated.
