According to local media reports, the world’s governing body of football, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) , has finally placed a transfer ban on Hearts of Oak after the Ghanaian club failed to pay an amount of USD 14,002 to former coach, Slavko Matic.
This outstanding amount of money will serve as a compensation to the Serbian international coach for a breach of contract.
The Serbia trainer was sacked from the club’s training complex, Pobiman training complex by some fans in March 2023.
Following the eventuality, the club asked Matic to step aside from his role as head coach of the club due to a series of poor result and a fall out with the supporters.
The Serbian coach supervised 16 premier league matches with eight wins, four draws and four losses, amassing 28 out of possible 48 points.
Matic filed a complaint with the Ghana Police Service concerning his safety but the club couldn’t guarantee him safety.
In July, Matic filed a case at FIFA, where Hearts of Oak were ordered to pay 14,002 USD to their former coach for breach of contract.
However, the Accra based club have not yet paid the said money to the Serbian coach and FIFA is forced to place an embargo on the club to enforce the ruling, which prevents Hearts of Oak from registering new players until they pay the Serbian coach.
The 46-year-old Serbian tactician replaced Samuel Boadu at the helm of affairs for the Phobians after signing an initial two-year contract with an option to extend at the end of the contract.
