Embrace integrity, excellence – CILT President inspires GIMPA graduates on their professional journeys

In a recent address, President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Mr. Mark Affum Amoamah delivered a compelling charge to graduates of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Emphasizing the significance of integrity, he urged them to become ambassadors of ethical conduct in their professional endeavors.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for recipients of the Advanced Diploma and Diploma in Logistics and Transport in Accra, a collaborative effort between GIMPA and CILT, Mr. Amoamah encouraged the graduates to leave an indelible mark on the burgeoning logistics and transportation sector, positioning themselves competitively on the global stage.

Addressing the graduates, he acknowledged not only the acquisition of knowledge but also the instillation of professional ethics necessary to navigate the complexities of the workforce. He challenged them to embrace change and make significant contributions to their respective fields, calling them “a testimony to our vision.”

Mr. Amoamah further advised the graduates to maintain steadfastness and leverage long-term partnerships for sustained growth. Underscoring the importance of networking, he urged them to remain connected, emphasizing that they play a crucial role in advancing the development of the logistics and transportation sectors.

Highlighting the collaborative efforts between GIMPA and CILT, Mr. Amoamah emphasized that their relationship was founded on a shared vision of excellence aimed at nurturing the talents of the finest professionals in the supply chain environment.

Adding to the commendations, Mr. Carlos Ahenkorah, Member of Parliament for Tema West, praised GIMPA for upholding standards of excellence in higher education.

He emphasized the critical role of logistics and transportation in the socio-economic development of the country, noting that without these elements, initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area would not be possible.

Mr. Ahenkorah urged the graduates to be open to collaboration, learn from each other, and face industry challenges with enthusiasm, emphasizing the significance of embracing opportunities to enhance the sector.

Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Samuel Bonsu highlighted the pivotal role the logistics and transport industry played in facilitating economic development. During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, he acknowledged the sector’s resilience in distributing goods and services even when other sectors came to a halt. He expressed hope that the graduates had been transformed to drive innovation and efficiency in the sector.

Director of GIMPA Training and Consulting, Prof. Charles Amoatey provided a historical perspective, noting that since the program’s introduction in 2004, 4,000 students had graduated, making a meaningful impact in society. He mentioned that the curriculum included key elements such as artificial intelligence, digitization, machine learning, and entrepreneurship to keep graduates abreast of new developments and ensure efficiency in the sector.
