Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu scored his first-ever Ligue 1 goal for Auxerre as they put Brest to the sword in a 3-0 trouncing at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps on Friday night.

Owusu opened the scoring for the hosts after being teed up by Ivory Coast’s Sinaly Diomande inside 26 minutes, before Jubal tucked away a penalty to put Auxerre two up at the break.

Ivorian international Hamed Junior Traore sealed the points just before the hour mark with an emphatic finish following an Elisha Owusu assist, to move Auxerre into 12th on the league log, while Brest fall to 13th.

Meanwhile, Owusu, who was playing his sixth Ligue 1 game for Auxerre, was instrumental last season as they pushed for a top-flight spot, making 33 Ligue 2 appearances.

Elisha’s Ghanaian teammate, Gideon Mensah, made his first appearance of the season after being sidelined with injury as he replaced Clement Akpa in the 67th minute.

Owusu and Gideon Mensah will be in contention to feature for the Black Stars when they take on Sudan in October’s internationals.
