Ghanaian content creator Elijah Kotey has urged aspiring content creators to build a strong foundation before venturing into the space.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive on September 25, 2025, on Radio Univers, Kotey underscored the importance of understanding the fundamentals of content creation and outlined five pillars that every successful creator relies on.

“People who want to start content creation must know a lot about it. Before you start, there are five pillars that all the big content creators follow: creativity, money, skills, tools, and mindset.”

According to him, creativity is the lifeblood of content creation and should be every creator’s starting point.

“If you are not creative enough, you’ll face challenges coming up with ideas. Then come skills like editing. Without good editing skills, your content might not stand out.”

Beyond creativity and skills, Kotey stressed the need for creators to be financially prepared for the journey.

“You have to be prepared mentally and financially. Creating content costs money, from transportation to equipment.”

Kotey’s advice comes at a time when content creation is gaining massive traction in Ghana, with more young people looking to leverage digital platforms for visibility, income, and influence. His message serves as both a reality check and a roadmap for anyone hoping to build a sustainable career in the creative economy.
