The Ghana Police Service has outlined proactive approach to maintaining security during the critical collation phase of the election process.
These measures, developed in collaboration with the Electoral Commission (EC), aim to safeguard the integrity of the collation process and maintain public trust.
In a media briefing, the Police emphasized that only accredited individuals will be allowed access to collation centres. This includes candidates, their agents, media personnel, and EC-approved observers. All entrants will undergo screening as part of efforts to prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety.
Furthermore, vehicular restrictions will be enforced, with unauthorized vehicles barred from entering collation centre premises. Motorbikes and other vehicles will also be restricted within a 100-metre radius to minimize disruptions.
The Ghana Police noted that these arrangements mirror the protocols used during Presidential and Parliamentary elections and have been designed to maintain security and order throughout the process.
In a statement, the Police urged all stakeholders, including candidates and their supporters, to comply with these measures to ensure a peaceful conclusion to the election. They reiterated their commitment to working with the EC and other stakeholders to deliver a credible and transparent electoral process.
