According to provisional statistics released by the Electoral Commission (EC), a total of 18,772,795 eligible voters are expected to participate in the upcoming general elections in December. Of this figure, 9,690,173 are females, while 9,082,622 are males.
The data also showed that 708,282 new voters have been added to the electoral roll for the December elections.
Furthermore, there are 332,110 voters who have transferred their registration, 2,167 proxy voters, 32,974 individuals on the exceptions list, and 26,798 on the multiples list.
At an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held in Accra on Tuesday, October 1, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced that most of the errors in the voter register have been addressed.
Jean Mensa acknowledged the concerns about the register’s accuracy, noting that while it is not yet final, some minor issues remain.
She reassured stakeholders that such imperfections are typical in any registration process and emphasized that the EC is actively working to correct them.
