The Electoral Commission of Ghana has removed Yasarko Press from printing ballot papers for the Oti and Western North regions in the upcoming 2024 elections due to a mechanical fault in one of their key machines.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Chairman of Operations of the Electoral Commission, Samuel Tettey, the EC assured the public that the printing responsibilities have been reassigned to Buck Press and Acts Commercials, ensuring no disruption to the election timeline.

”The Electoral Commission announces for the information of the general public that Yasarko Press, one of the printing houses contracted to print the ballot papers for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, will no longer print ballot papers for this year.”

”In the course of the week, the management of Yasarko Press indicated to the Commission that one of their critical equipment for the printing of ballot papers has developed a fault.”

”The Commission acted swiftly by reallocating the Oti and Western North regions ballot papers to Buck and Acts Commercials, respectively.”

The EC also dismissed speculations about Yasarko’s capacity, affirming their reliability as a long-standing partner since 1998.

”It is important to note that Yasarko Press has been printing ballot papers for the Electoral Commission since 1998. Consequently, this speculation by the National Democratic Congress Director of Elections and Information Technology that the Electoral Commission engaged a printing house with questionable capacity is not true.”

It further stated that political parties and candidates have been notified of the changes.
