NDC Presidential candidate hopeful and former Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffour has informed the general public about his withdrawal from the upcoming internal primaries slated for Saturday, May 13,2023.
The latest development comes on the back of Dr Duffour and his legal team withdrawing the legal suit filed to place an interlocutory injunction on the upcoming primaries due to certain discrepancies in the delegates register prepared by the party for its 2023 presidential and parliamentary primaries.
Speaking at a press conference held late Friday evening at the premises of the Institute of Fiscal Studies in Accra, Dr Duffour indicated that he arrived at the decision following extensive consultations with his campaign team.
” Having undergone extensive consultation with my hardworking campaign team over the processes leading to the upcoming elections and the engagements with the national leadership of my party, the NDC over outstanding issues which we believe will affect the credibility of the elections slated for this weekend, i have taken the decision to withdraw from the process which will not give a fair chance to all contestants to have their policies and programmes well scrutinised by the electorates “.
Earlier, Dr Duffour and his legal team had filed the injunction request on May 9,2023 for the court to put a halt on the elections slated for this weekend.
