Nigerian Grammy-nominated singer, Davido, has come under intense scrutiny on social media following allegations surrounding the paternity of a child who publicly requested a DNA test to confirm her identity.
The controversy began when an Instagram user identified as Anu Adeleke published an open letter addressed to the award-winning artist, urging him to consent to a DNA test. In her bio, the young woman claimed to be Davido’s first child.
According to Anu, she grew up without knowing her father, an experience she said subjected her to bullying and emotional distress throughout her childhood.
“I was bullied in school from the age of six and cried almost every day when I got home. Other students laughed at me whenever I said my father was Davido. I went through a lot of mental anguish,” she wrote.
She explained that as she steps into adulthood, she feels the need to establish her identity and put lingering questions to rest.
“As I transition into a young woman, I am respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke (Davido) to grant a DNA test to establish my identity.”
In response, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the allegations, firmly denying the paternity claim. The singer revealed that multiple DNA tests had already been conducted, all of which reportedly returned negative results.
According to him, five DNA tests were carried out in total—three at medical facilities of his choosing and two at hospitals selected by the child’s mother.
Davido further warned that he would pursue legal action against the child’s mother if she continues to associate his name with what he described as false claims regarding the child’s paternity.
Social media continues to buzz over the unfolding drama, with some users urging Davido to adopt the child to let sleeping dogs lie. In contrast, others insist that he should thoroughly investigate and get to the bottom of the allegations.
