President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Kurt Okraku has disclosed plans by the Association to introduce the GFA football academy in three regions.
The project will see a collaboration with the Ghana education service to aid in the grooming of individuals who will be enrolled in the program as well as pursuing their footballing career.
“Academicals, where football was introduced into our schools and where our students were given the belief that they can also pursue academic excellence and also have their teams of playing football.” Kurt Okraku said.
According to the president, The Ghana Football Association will work closely with the Ghana Education Service on this initiative.
“Along the same lines we are introducing what we call the GFA schools football academy where our brothers and sisters would be scouted from the woods of Ghana and work closely with the Ghana Education Service by placing these super talents in carefully selected secondary schools in Ghana where they will pursue their academic careers and also their footballing career” the GFA boss disclosed.
Kurt Okraku stated that this project will be enrolled in the Upper East, Ashanti and the Greater Accra region to unearth talents in the various parts of the country.
It was made known that talents churned out through this initiatve will be available for clubs and various national teams for selection and sales for the betterment of Ghana football.
“The foremost GFA football academy will be in the Upper East, they will be training at our newly established technical center in Bolgatanga and they will schooling at the Bolgatanga Secondary School. Same strategy will be repeated in the Ashanti Region representing the middle belt and then the Greater Accra Region representing the south coast. What that means is that we will be gathering all the super talents very young at the right level in ages and then using our football philosophy to offer them football tuition. These players will be available to all the clubs we have in Ghana and our national teams” he added.
Kurt Okraku has unveiled a number of significant initiatives aimed at enhancing different facets of Ghanaian football, from grassroots development to administrative support.
