Ghanaian singer Cina Soul has called on the Ghana Police Service to take action against actor and media personality Big Akwes following what has been described by many as disturbing remarks he made during a live television interview.
Appearing on Bryt TV on June 27, 2025, Big Akwes was asked a common entertainment game question: “Kiss, Marry or Kill”, with the options being Nana Agradaa, Vivian Jill, and Cina Soul. While his responses to the first two were relatively light-hearted, saying he would kiss Agradaa and marry Vivian Jill, his response to the Cina Soul option turned alarming.
Big Akwes stated, in a disturbingly aggressive tone, that he would kill Cina Soul by “stabbing her with two knives.” The violent imagery and intensity with which he delivered the comment sparked immediate concern and backlash online, with many users condemning the remarks as dangerous, misogynistic, and unacceptable, especially in a media space.
In response, Cina Soul took to her official X (formerly Twitter) account to express how deeply unsettled she felt by the comments. In her tweet, she wrote that she feels threatened by Big Akwes’ words and called on the Ghana Police Service to take action. She also revealed that this was not the first time Big Akwes had made inappropriate remarks about her, but she had previously chosen not to respond.

The incident has reignited conversations around media ethics, gender-based violence, and the responsibility of broadcasters and public figures to use their platforms responsibly.
As of now, Big Akwes has not publicly responded to the backlash or Cina Soul’s comments. However, the host of the show has rendered a public apology on behalf of Bryt TV and Big Akwes about this matter.
Many fans, activists, and fellow creatives have since rallied around Cina Soul, calling for accountability and emphasizing the need for a safer environment, both online and offline, for women in the entertainment industry.
