Chief cuts sod to begin construction of Ahenkro Market

The chief of Ahenkro, Nana Ahenkro Osei Poku IV has cut sod to begin the construction of Ahenkro Market in Afigya kwabre north of the Ashanti Region.

The project is expected to be completed within 21 months is under the Public and Private Partnership Support Program (PPP ).

The construction of the market project will include 149 stores, a paved station car park, and a washroom facility.

Speaking to the media, the chief explained that there was a need for a new market facility to replace the old one which had deplored over the years. He called for the support of the Ahenkro residents to hasten the new market’s construction.

”The construction of the modern markets had become necessary because of the deplorable state of the old one, which was built over seventy years ago. I appeal to the residents of Ahenkro to support the Assembly and the contractor to ensure that the project is completed on time.”

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre North District, Hon. Kakari Acheamfo assured that the project would include every trader in the area to benefit them.

“No trader will be left out after completion and would be shared equally among them. I charged the contractor of Jometo construction limited to speed up the work to ensure that the contract is completed on schedule.”

The DCE also appealed to the residents for their cooperation in the project to ensure its swift completion.

“I am pleading with the residents to cooperate with the constructors on the project. We are prepared to help the community so they should bear with us.”

Contractor of the project, Mr. Joseph Enyan said their partnership with government would help them complete within schedule.

“The government has decided to help us with the completion of the project. Our partnership with government would help us to complete the project within the scheduled period. Hence, we are counting on their usual support.”
