Celebrating a Hero: Joseph Ayitey Hammond Foundation holds quiz competition to honour World War II veteran

The Joseph Ashitey Hammond Foundation recently organized a quiz competition to commemorate the 100th birthday of World War II veteran, WOI Joseph Ashitey Hammond.

This event brought together students, teachers, and community members to celebrate Hammond’s life, service, and contributions to the Gold Coast(now Ghana) during WWII.

The quiz competition consisted of multiple rounds, testing participants’ knowledge in various subjects.

Winners received awards and recognition, promoting education and encouraging students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Joshua Hammond, CEO of the Joseph Ashitey Hammond Foundation, emphasized the importance of promoting education and honoring his grandfather’s legacy.

WOI Joseph Ashitey Hammond, a Ghanaian WWII veteran, is an inspiration to many, demonstrating resilience and determination.

The foundation announced upcoming projects on March 29 and April 29, 2025 respectively  encouraging everyone to participate.

Currently, they collaborate with the Ghana Armed Forces, but Joshua Hammond urged other NGOs, ministries, and individuals to support the foundation.

WOI Joseph Ashitey Hammond expressed concerns about youth education and the importance of respecting parents.

He advised against war, suggesting that Ghanaians unite with Americans, whom he considers “good”.
