The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has instructed Kwesi Appiah to step down from one of his roles before Ghana locks horn with Sudan match on Thursday October’s 10,2024.
Kwesi Appiah currently serves as the head coach of Sudan’s national team and also holds an executive council membership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Some football fans have criticized Appiah’s dual roles, calling for him to vacate one of them.
Now, CAF has formally requested that Appiah resign from one of his positions ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
According a letter cited by Univers Sports, CAF is asking him to resolve the situation of conflict of interest by 8th October 2024.

In response, Kwasi Appiah has stepped down as Ghana FA Executive Council member temporarily following CAF’s order.
Meanwhile, Sudan will be hosted in the first leg of the qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10 before the return leg October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
