Edwin Gadayi, a member of Ghana’s 4 x 100m silver winning quartet from the African Games, blazed to a scintillating season’s best finish in a time of 10.20s to win his heat at the ongoing CAA Region II Senior Championship meet at the University of Ghana Stadium earlier today.

The event, which is aimed at securing Olympic qualification for the summer’s games in Paris, began on June 4, 2024, and is expected to climax on June 5, 2024.

The two day meet has put together the top echelon athletes across 15 African countries as they vie to secure an Olympic berth.

Gadayi – who is amongst senior athletes on the Ghanaian team, including William Amponsah, Deborah Acheampong, Hor Halutie, Janet Mensah & Dabiel Otibu- blazed to a season’s best finish en route to the 100m final.

After running a sensational 10.29s at the GNPC Ghana’s fastest meet in Tamale and securing the first position after a blistering 10.46s at the 3rd Open National meet in Kumasi this season, the Sagnation athlete obliterated his previous times with a 10.20s finish.

Although running in an impressive time, Gadayi is some seconds off the Olympic qualifying mark, which stands at 10.00s and will have the final in sight to book a spot to Paris.
