Politician Gyakye Quayson has been elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, solidifying his position as the representative of the constituency in the august house of Ghana’s Parliament.

The highly anticipated by-election was necessitated by a Supreme Court ruling in the case challenging the eligibility of the previous MP, James Gyakye Quayson, who was accused of holding dual citizenship.

Gyakye Quayson, who is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), secured a resounding victory by amassing a significant margin of votes at 17,245 votes representing 57.56% of the valid votes
